On May 18 – 19, 2010 the Vyhod Media Center hosts lectures «Art on the market and the art market. The dialog: artist, curator, gallerist» within the frame of the Educational and debating program for Karelian creative youth:

In 1988 Sotheby’s held its first auction in Russia where Grisha Bruskin’s painting Lexicon was sold to everyone’s surprise at the price hundreds of times greater than what the Russian art markets were accustomed to in those days. How do the price and value of an art work correlate? Do the market mechanisms influence the art? How do the creative process, the artistic life and the art market correlate with each other? What is the specific character of the contemporary art market? These and other issues will be covered from different viewpoints – the curator, the gallerist, the artist, the collector.

Moderated by: Georgiy Nikich, curator, art historian, board member of the Art Historians Association (Moscow)
