The original course «The Basics of Camera Work and Editing» is part of the Educational and debating program for Karelian creative youth being initiated and organized by the Creative Industries and Cultural Tourism Development Fund with the support from the Open Society Institute.

The course introduces modern video standards, technical devices, the main principles of video creation, cameraman tricks and the basics of Adobe Premiere- and Adobe After Effects-based computer nonlinear editing.

 

The course offers both theory classes and hands-on training in a computer class. Students will create their own videos and learn how to burn edited video on DVD and prepare it for net publications.

 

Course schedule

 

February 3, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Introduction. Video formats, information media, video camera internal components, main video camera controls.

 

February 10, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Script: from literary script to production script.

 

February 17, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Video shooting. Composition, close-ups, landscapes, light, sound, additional devices (filters, tripods, carts, cranes, steadicams).

 

February 24, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Editing. Procedures, technologies, equipment, sound, special effects, captions.

 

March 3, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Editing. Continued. Practical work with Adobe Premiere program (interface, tools, etc.)

 

March 17, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Working with Adobe After Effects program (interface, tools, etc.) and Adobe Premiere program. Postproduction.

 

March 24, 19.00 – 21.00

 

Practical work and consultations on individual projects.

 

March 31, 19.00 – 21.00
